It was 1982, when two men met in a small parish of Louisiana. Jack Brown, an unemployed news reporter, and U.S. Bates, a prominent politician were foes in a world of unfavorable social conditions. Mr. Brown, while previously employed by Bates, was not initially fond of his boss, and the feeling was astonishingly mutual. The two, who began as arch enemies, quickly became lifelong friends.
